Sportstech Startup Str8bat Raises $3.5 million from Exfinity Venture Partners
Sports technology startup Str8bat has raised $3.5 million (about Rs 29.3 crore) in a series A funding round led by Exfinity Venture Partners.
The round also saw participation from TRTL Ventures, Eternal Capital and the VCats group (including Venture Catalyst and VCgrid), alongside existing investors such as Techstars and SucSEED Indovation Fund.
The Bengaluru-based startup plans to use the new funds to accelerate product development, introduce new product lines and expand both its marketing efforts and geographic footprint.
Founded in 2018 by Gagan Daga, Rahul Nagar and Madhusudan R, Str8bat is a sports technology company that has developed a platform providing real-time data analytics for athletes. Its core product is a sensor that attaches to the back of a cricket bat, offering real-time insights to help players improve their game.
Str8bat’s mobile app delivers key metrics such as bat speed, impact speed and bat lift angle. The startup has partnered with sports original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like SG Cricket to launch the “smart willow” bat, which has the sensor embedded directly into the bat, enabling advanced shot tracking without the need for cameras.
“In a world where power hitting and innovative shots dominate, Str8bat’s cutting-edge insights are helping coaches, players and teams achieve superior performance outcomes,” said Shailesh Ghorpade, founding managing partner, Exfinity Venture Partners. “Their strategic partnerships, especially in cricket, enhance their credibility and fast-track their go-to-market strategy. We are thrilled to support their journey in redefining players’ performance on a global scale.”
